Thanks Wolfgang. It is really hard. But, I have found some things, including a synbiotic (pre/probiotic) which have helped her by reducing crashes (post-exertional malaise). I'm glad that your daughter is getting better now.
In her case, restricting histamine helped a lot. Just one cherry tomato is enough to put her to bed for a day or two. Trips to Italy are more difficult now.
The tattoo research is really fascinating, and tough to counsel patients about as many are heavily tattooed already. Going to review that one, as you mentioned the effect is perhaps attenuated by time since tattoo ink placed?
I've been following the herpesvirus/VZV connection with dementia, and eagerly waiting for results of the extended valacyclovir as treatment study... should be results soon. Likely too little too late, but compelling evidence emerging for vaccination.
How about a HSV1/HSV2 vaccine please? If only for dementia prevention!
Thank you *very* much, as always, for this judicious and invaluable compilation of the week's news. Many of us continue to rely on it.
Wishing you good time off!
Thanks and aloha!
Oh, I'm so sorry to read that your daughter is stricken so badly with LC.
My daughter lost two years of school because of it, but at least has never been bedridden and has got much better in the last few months.
All the best to you and your daughter!

Always lots of good stuff to consider, thank you.
