Thanks so much for another super informative newsletter. A close family member in San Jose, who is generally extremely careful, got COVID recently either at a nearly empty grocery store when she ran in for a few items OR at a July 4th party that was 98% outdoors (brief jaunts inside to help with food prep). No one else at the party seems to have been sick.

Two weeks ago I got another Covid shot. The man who administered it to me informed me that this is my "last one" and seemed to have the attitude that I shouldn't be getting one. I told him that my doctor's office said that I needed to do it, so I was doing it. Frighteningly, he said that they at Walgreens have to follow the CDC, not what my doctor says. I wasn't trying to argue, but it was bizarre. I got the sense that he resented having to give me the shot. So odd.

Your pies look delicious. I’m reading this while recovering from my fifth round of Covid (risked attending a large wedding of a very dear nephew…ah well). I got my most recent vaccine in late April; my daughter hadn’t gotten one yet this year. She also caught a case at the wedding and is having a much harder time. (Also, razor blade throat? Do NOT recommend!) My point: get your vaccine as soon as possible!! Especially you younger folks, given RFK Jr’s upcoming (and unscientific) limits on who can get them!

Thank you, as always, for your hard work. Your communities (in real life: PIES! and online: KNOWLEDGE!! Citations!!!) are so lucky to have you.
