How to look up SARS-CoV-2 wastewater data in your area
In the United States
To look up information specific to your U.S. location, I find it is easiest to look at WastewaterSCAN numbers.
Go to WastewaterSCAN: https://data.wastewaterscan.org/
Click on the Chart button in the purple sidebar on the left of the screen:
Go to Pathogen and click on “SARS-CoV-2”.
Click in the “Location(s)” box and choose STATE, then scroll down to your state and click on it.
It should now show the SARS-CoV-2 level in wastewater in your chosen state. For example, this is what it shows for Massachusetts:
The top curve shows you the level of virus in the last week hopefully. You can look at the x axis of the chart to see the date when wastewater levels were last reported.
The bottom curve shows what wastewater has been like since 2023. This gives an idea of how much virus there is in wastewater now versus what it was in past COVID waves.
I also like to look up Emergency Room visits for COVID in my state at https://covid.cdc.gov/covid-data-tracker/#ed-visits_all_ages_combined
You need to choose your state under Location:
Once Hospitalization data is back online starting November 1, you will be able to look that up too.
